HEPA Air Purifiers - the Best Choice?
The large number of air cleaners can be confusing for the average homeowner. Most heating and cooling systems are equipped with an air filter system, but these are next to useless as air purifiers.
Unlike HEPA air purifiers, heating and cooling systems are equipped with filters designed to trap large particles. Their main function is to protect the machinery inside the air handler.
This means that an additional HEPA air purifier is necessary to improve the air quality of the home.
Are HEPA Air Purifiers Necessary?
Many people are shocked to learn that the air inside their homes is more polluted and the outside air. Modern homes are built to retain air-conditioned or heated air, and this means that common household pollutants cannot escape. HEPA air purifiers can clean the air of common pollutants such as cooking fumes, tobacco smoke, dust and dust mites, as well as spores and pollen.
A HEPA air filter will significantly improve the air quality of the home by removing these airborne particles. This makes the air cleaner to breathe and will also keep your furnishings dust free. The result? A cleaner and healthier house.
Installing a HEPA Air Purifier
if you already have a central air heating or cooling system, it is relatively simple to modify it to include a HEPA air purifier. Usually the return duct plenum has to be modified to integrate the HEPA air purifier system. If there is insufficient space, an in-wall model can be installed which fits behind the return grill.
HEPA air filters are more expensive than other types of filtration systems, but considering their effectiveness in cleaning the air the cost is well worth it. A HEPA air purifier consists of hundreds of square feet of fiberglass fabric which is folded into a small space.
The cost of installing a HEPA air purifier runs about $1000 and the average operating costs are between $100-$200 for electricity and replacement filters. This may seem like a lot of money, but consider that HEPA air purifiers will significantly improve the quality of your home environment and reduce sicknesses caused by airborne contaminants. In this light, HEPA air filters seem like a small investment which reaps large returns.

I want to install it in a large basement room. I do not have a central air
conditioner or cooling system. Can I simply vent it outside through the
wall?

Hi,
Two years ago, I had ordered from Manuflow in Montreal two (2) Hepa Filters
for 681-04 Purifier.
It seems that this article is coming from China and is back order since a
good time.
Do you any idea where I could find this product elsewhere.
Greats thanks for your answer
